The Kentucky chapter of the National Women in Agriculture Association was established in 2024 by DeAnna O’Connell after she learned about the NWIAA while conducting research on grant writing. Inspired and seeing Kentucky lacked a chapter, DeAnna reached out to fill the need and serves as the Kentucky Chapter CEO.
Shortly thereafter, Jessi Dietrich of the Baird Street Community Garden joined the Board of Directors along with Dr. Sam Weissrock who is an advocate of Food as Medicine.
NWIAA-Kentucky is dedicated to educating minorities and underprivileged individuals throughout Kentucky beginning with their local communities in Louisville’s West End and Portland neighborhoods
